The Bill 2015 implements three specific changes to the Domestic and Family Violence Protection Act 2012 which were recommended by the task force.

Firstly, requires a court to hear proceedings on cross-applications together, an obligation rather than a discretionary procedural step.

Secondly,  the changes require a court to consider including a condition to exclude a perpetrator of domestic violence from the family home as part of a protection order (an ouster condition).

Thirdly, that victim impact statements be introduced into the act for mandatory consideration in civil applications for protection orders.
